Eligibility:

The Educational Scholarship Program is available to your children if, at the time of your death or long-term disability you are:

  • An active Corning employee with at least five years of service who dies before age 70,
  • A Corning retiree (who had been eligible for this program as an active employee) with at least five years of service who dies before age 70, or
  • A disabled Salaried or Union-free Hourly employee with at least 10 years of service who is receiving payments under Corning’s Long-term Disability Plan.
  • A Union Hourly employee who retired under the Disability Retirement provision of the Corning Pension Plan.

Independent contractors and persons treated by Corning as independent contractors, as well as temporary agency employees and interns, regardless of their scheduled work hours, are not eligible for this program.

Eligible children include your legal dependents who are unmarried and under age 25 when the semester begins. The child can be your natural child, legally adopted child, stepchild, or any child (including children of a spouse or domestic partner) with whom you have a “parent–child relationship” including, in some cases, a grandchild.
