Corning offers Paid Parental Leave for your financial protection and time to bond with a new child. Paid Parental Leave provides up to 12 consecutive weeks of paid leave at 100% of base pay, in addition to Short-Term Disability (STD) benefits for birth parents. This includes a full continuation of benefits.

Key Details:

  • Must be taken in consecutive weeks (intermittent leaves are not permitted)
  • May be taken at any time during the first 12 months after the birth, adoption, or foster placement of a child
  • Only one foster event allowed per year
  • Runs concurrently with any state-mandated leave programs and FMLA
  • Up to 2 weeks of paid leave is also available in the event of miscarriage (both birth parents and non-birth parents)
  • Administered by MetLife

  1. Apply for Paid Parental Leave 30 days before your scheduled leave (when practical) by contacting the MetLife Leave of Absence Reporting Line
  2. Inform your supervisor and HR manager of your leave request

Eligibility: 

All U.S. salaried and union-free hourly employees working an average of 30 or more hours per week are eligible for Paid Parental Leave. No waiting period for new hires, however the child must have been born/placed in the home while employed at Corning. Paid Parental Leave must be completed during the first 12 months following the birth, adoption, or foster placement.
